Jim E. Kruse is an experienced banking and financial leader with deep roots in Washington County. He most recently served as President of Bank of Brenham, where he helped grow the institution from $150 million to $650 million in assets by 2023. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of Industry Bancshares until June 2024 and continues to serve as Chairman of the Board of Blue Bell Creameries, a role he has held since 2017 following more than two decades in leadership with the company.
Mr. Kruse began his career as an auditor with KPMG Peat Marwick after earning his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. He graduated as the top business student from Texas A&M University in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, following his time at Blinn College, where he was valedictorian. A Brenham native, he graduated from Brenham High School in 1988, where he was part of a State 4A baseball championship team.
He is actively involved in his community, serving on the Baylor Scott & White Central Texas Board since 2014 and the Baylor Scott & White Brenham Hospital Board since 2015. His leadership extends across numerous organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, Rotary Club, Blinn College Alumni Association, Coastal Conservation Association (Brenham Chapter), and the Washington County A&M Club. He has also served in leadership roles with St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.
Mr. Kruse and his wife, Hailey, have four children and operate a registered Beefmaster cattle ranch near Brenham. He enjoys golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
